Beeson Youth Center

The Beeson Youth Center was built in 1968 in memory of Charles R. Beeson and Ruth Ann Beeson. The main floor of the building has Club administrative offices, nurse's office, and arts & crafts rooms (see photos below). The upper floor has staff and male counselor housing. In 2000 the building underwent major renovations, updating the offices and creating first-rate arts & crafts facilities, including ceramic kilns. Prior to 2000, when the arts & crafts rooms were expanded, a large "game room" was located in the building which contained foosball and ping pong tables and tables to play board games. These items were moved to the upper lounge of Seaver Gym and the basement of the Girls Club. Prior to 1968, the site was home to the Athletic Club Building, built in 1905 and demolished in 1967. The Athletic Club Building even had a bowling alley in the basement !
