Grandstands

The original backstop and grandstand was built in 1896. It was replaced by a new one in 1911 at a cost of $3,000. The entire structure was made of cypress wood and seated 800 people. The structure was destroyed in a spectacular overnight fire on July 5, 1991. Numerous surrounding trees were also destroyed. The fire department worked to save nearby Club buildings, which managed to only sustain exterior paint damage from the immense heat. A smaller, metal grandstands, shown above, was built in 1992.
